Job Description:
Daily operation of the class water plant. Including but not limited to, assisting the manager and lead operator with operation of the plant in all aspects, well and plant inspections, chlorine level testing, chemical feed rate adjustments, refilling chemicals and data recording. Ensure proper operation and level of storage tanks. Perform necessary plant operations adjustments as directed by manager. Collection of routine and special samples. Perform preventative maintenance and basic equipment repairs. Perform general cleaning of facility and equipment. Assist in grounds maintenance, including grass mowing and snow removal. Advise the manager of any mechanical or treatment issues. Daily operation of the class wastewater plant. Including but not limited to, assisting manager and lead operator with operation of the plant in all aspects. Performing daily inspections, collection and running routine samples such as dissolved oxygen and PH. Collection and delivery of samples to a designated laboratory. Wasting and transferring of sludge by product. Running and adjustment of treatment equipment such as grit dewatering pumps, blowers, return pumps and UV disinfection. Operation of sludge dewatering centrifuge. Perform preventative and basic equipment repairs. Perform general cleaning of facility and equipment. Assist in grounds maintenance, including grass mowing and snow removal. Advise manager of any mechanical or treatment issues. Collections and Distribution. Hydrant flushing for the purpose of water turn over and hydrant testing. Fire flow tests on hydrants. Water meter reading. Water main repair. Operation of sewer jet and sewer cleaning. Checking of sewer lift stations and generators. Advise manager of any issues.
Experience Required:
Willingness to be on call and available for emergency work when required. Answer alarm calls. Work holidays and weekends on a rotational basis. Desire to train and advance. Must be able to go up and down ladders. Must be able to lift 50lbs. Must possess an Ohio Class I Water and Wastewater Operator’s Certificates. Must possess a valid State of Ohio motor vehicle operator’s license. Applicant must have the willingness to obtain an Ohio class 2 water supply license and an Ohio class 3 wastewater treatment license.

Reporting Relationship: Works under the supervision of and reports to the Water Plant Superintendent. Position Description: Under general directions, manages the operations of two (2) water treatment plants. Assisting the water treatment plant superintendent in preparing and coordinating departmental work schedules. Preparing reports as needed on operation and maintenance activities. Preparing requisitions on purchase of equipment and plant chemicals. Resolving complaints concerning water quality. Running required water quality testing and supervising shift operations. Coordinates the facility maintenance with Plant Superintendent and maintenance personnel. Perform other related duties as required. Summary of Essential Functions Including but not limited to the following; • Assists in managing and directing water treatment plant operations. • Ensures Company Policies are implemented and enforced. • Conducts periodic inspections of the water treatment plant and outbuildings, including well field, storage tanks, booster pump stations, solenoid control valves, flushing devices and general grounds. • Oversees and maintains the treatment plant and distribution system via SCADA while on duty. • Oversees and maintains the emergency standby generation system while on duty. • Ensures compliance with all applicable regulations, safety programs and practices and ensures that procedures are followed. • Reviews records and charts generated and prepared by treatment plant personnel. • Prepares data on the treatment plant shift operation. • Addresses difficult complaints that are water related. • Defines problems and collects data, establishes facts and draws. conclusions for recommendations to the water treatment plant Superintendent. • Knowledgeable of Ohio EPA Rules & Regulations, Ohio Health Dept. Rules & Regulations and any other rules and regulations applicable to the operation of a water treatment plant; rendering accurate reports as required. • An ability to be on call after regular business hours.
Experience Required:
Qualifications: Any combination of training, education and work experience which indicates possession of the skills, knowledge and abilities listed. A high school diploma or equal education. Possession of a State of Ohio Class II Water (or higher) Treatment Operator’s License within one (1) year of appointment to the position. Five (5) years of experience in water treatment operation, and/or any equivalent combination of education and/or experience which evidences a comprehensive knowledge of the water treatment process, operation, and maintenance. Possession of a valid “State of Ohio Motor Vehicle Operator’s License”. An ability to be on-call after regular business hours; an ability to communicate with the public; an ability to work in adverse weather conditions and an ability to maintain self-control under adverse circumstances. Must possess the ability to move heavy objects (100 lbs. or more) in and around the plant and facilities. May be required to possess a State of Ohio class III Water Supply license if our facility is reclassified by the OEPA.

Key Responsibilities • System Operations and Maintenance: o Assisting the Superintendent in the Operation and maintenance of water and wastewater treatment plants, collection and distribution systems, and related infrastructure. o Perform inspections, routine maintenance, repairs, and adjustments on equipment and systems, including pumps and motors. o Conduct water quality monitoring, lab analyses, and perform chemical adjustments to meet regulatory standards. o Checking sewer lift stations and generators. • Field Work and Emergency Response: o Engage in hydrant flushing, water main repairs, fire flow tests, and emergency on-call duties. o Respond to system emergencies, leakages, or outages in a timely manner, with a required response time of 1 hour when on-call. • Record-Keeping and Reporting: o Accurately log data, prepare routine reports, and submit findings as required. o Accurately monthly reading of consumer water meters (walking) o Ensure data integrity for all collected samples and test results.
Experience Required:
Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED, Must be able to go up and down ladders and stairs, Must be able to access confined spaces. Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds, perform manual labor, and operate in diverse weather conditions. Possession of a valid Ohio Driver’s License. Licensing and Certification: • Ohio Class I Water Supply Operator’s License and/or Ohio Class I Wastewater Operator’s License preferred. • Willingness to obtain relevant licenses within two years if not already certified. Experience: • 1-2 years of experience in water or wastewater systems is preferred. • Experience operating equipment such as backhoes, skid loaders, or similar is a plus.
